What to Expect in Coaching

To start, your life coach will talk with you to learn and define the goal you want to achieve. Then you will work together to create a plan to take steps to reach that goal. During each session you can expect to discuss the progress you made and obstacles you ran into.


You will meet with your coach over zoom or via phone call. Session length may vary, but is typically 20-30 minutes as they are direct and focused. You may also have occasional email check ins between meetings.

How is Life Coaching Different from Therapy?

While life coaching does have some overlapping areas, it is distinctly different from therapy. Therapy typically focuses on issues causing you to feel different than normal and are interfering with everyday life. Therapy can address mental health conditions, such as major depression, whereas life coaching cannot. Coaching is appropriate when you are functioning well in everyday life and want some help navigating change or improving your life. Coaching tends to take a more direct, focused approach and sessions are typically shorter. Essentially, life coaching focuses on goals and reaching your potential while therapy focuses on improving your mental health.
